Toxic Produce You Need to Avoid (or Buy Organic)

Bitter greens help detox the body. Edible spring greens like dandelion, nettle, watercress, lamb’s quarters, violet, chickweed, chicory, amaranth, red mustard, and arugula are what you want to include in your diets.

Mark Hyman MD, author of the Blood Sugar Solution 10- Day Detox Diet recommends eliminating sugars, processed foods, grains, dairy, and caffeine that are difficult to digest for 10 days.

People who love to eat meat.  Red meat is harder to digest or break down and can divert the body’s energy when eliminating toxins.  Red meat would be good to avoid during a 10 day detox . Meats can add stress to some of your liver jobs. Because meat is hard to digest, it slows down digestion process, cause the bowels to clog up and creates bacteria to breed in your guts. Acidic foods lead to poor cell functions and altered pH in the body.

Let’s cleanse and tune up our bodies.

All body systems need to be working and working together. Compare yourself to a car or a drain pipe.  Is your drain pipe backing up? Just as filters in your car clog up with carbon waste so do the filters your body like the liver, kidneys, and colon fill with metabolic waste. Body lymph also works harder if not given a chance to restore, rebuild and get rid of what is happening within your immune system.

Organic produce is imperative while doing a cleanse. Buying organic produce can be pricey but in the long run it’s your health.

Here is a list of what environmentalists consider dirty dozen  foods, because these foods are capable of absorbing toxics or are grown in places where exposed to chemicals before taken to market.

The Dirty Dozen List: 

Prioritize buying these organic if and when you can. Know the source where they are grown.

  3. Kale, collard, and mustard greens

  4. Nectarines

  5. Apples

  7. Cherries

  10. Bell and hot peppers

  11. Tomatoes

The following food choices may be less toxic and perhaps better choice, as long as you do not have allergies or food sensitivities or reasons why you know you are reacting to them. An increasing number of plant sources, such as avocado, banana, chestnut, kiwi, peach, tomato, potato and bell pepper, have been associated with this syndrome.

  1. Avocados (latex)

  2. Sweet corn (watch source can be GMO, most corn is now days)

  3. Pineapple

  4. Onions

  5. Papaya

  6. Sweet peas (frozen)

  7. Eggplant (nightshade)

  8. Asparagus

  9. Broccoli (goiter genic which can cause thyroid to swell)

  10. Cabbage (goiter genic which can cause thyroid to swell)

  11. Kiwi

  12. Cauliflower (goiter genic which can cause thyroid to swell)

  13. Mushrooms

  14. Honeydew melon

  15. Cantaloupes

  16. Beets and chard can help the liver detox

Know what your food allergy or antigens are. I often suggest testing at least 208 foods. This information helps clients know what to eliminate while their body is healing and help to know what foods need to be rotated in their diet. Eating foods of color is not only eye appealing but fortifies the body frequencies to have a higher body vibration.
